Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at MetroHealth Medical Center. As an Occupational Therapist - Driver's Rehab, you will play a critical role in helping individuals overcome or adapt to physical, emotional, or developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient function and develop creative occupational therapy programs to encourage independence.
  • Plan and organize occupational therapy programs for patients with various disabilities, including neonates, geriatrics, and those in behavioral health.
  • Uphold the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or post-graduate certificate in Occupational Therapy from a school accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Certification (NBCOT) and Occupational Therapist licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to travel to satellite locations as needed and interact effectively with diverse cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Membership in the AOTA.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk without assistive device and maintain balance to support patients during functional training.
  • Ability to lift and reach with arms to assist patients with exercises.
  • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to palpate muscle tension and monitor patient's pulse.
  • Visual acuity to observe patient's gross movement and analyze biomechanical problems.
  • Ability to speak clearly and instruct patients and families who may not be able to read.
  • Ability to hear and understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.
Work Environment

Frequently performed tasks include standing, sitting, walking, reaching, crouching, balancing, lifting, carrying, and pushing. Occasionally performed tasks include stooping, climbing, lifting, carrying, and operating power tools and machinery.
