Position Overview:

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing therapeutic programs aimed at assisting individuals in overcoming or adapting to various physical, emotional, or developmental challenges. This role involves assessing patient functionality and creatively structuring activities related to work, leisure, and self-care to promote independence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients to determine their needs and capabilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans that align with patient goals.
  • Utilize innovative techniques to facilitate patient engagement in therapeutic activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and treatment outcomes.

Qualifications:

Required:

A Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or post-graduate certificate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution. Must possess and maintain certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Ohio is mandatory. Additionally, candidates should have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or be able to obtain it within a specified timeframe. The ability to travel to various locations as required by operational needs is essential.


Preferred:
Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is advantageous.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk independently and maintain balance to support patients during functional training.
  • Capability to lift and reach adequately to assist patients during exercise programs.
  • Manual dexterity and tactile sensation to monitor muscle tension and vital signs.
  • Visual acuity to observe and analyze patient movements and gait.
  • Clear verbal communication skills to instruct patients and families effectively.
  • Auditory comprehension to understand patient feedback regarding symptoms and treatment responses.

Work Environment:

Responsibilities may require frequent standing, walking, and lifting, with occasional stooping and climbing. The role demands a commitment to uphold the mission and values of the organization while providing exceptional patient care.
