We are currently seeking a Protection and Control Group Lead to oversee our TVA substation engineering division. This role is pivotal in guiding a team of engineers and designers in delivering high-quality substation designs that align with client specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a dedicated team of P&C engineers and designers to ensure project completion meets established standards.
- Assign tasks and evaluate performance to optimize staff utilization effectively.
- Ensure quality assurance across all projects undertaken by the group.
- Engage in client meetings, site visits, and project scoping sessions.
- Prepare project estimates and assist in developing bid packages.
- Monitor project timelines and execution to guarantee satisfactory outcomes.
- Provide technical oversight and coordinate the review of project deliverables.
- Maintain high standards of quality and efficiency in deliverables, including One-Line Diagrams, AC & DC Schematics, and Wiring Diagrams.
- Address construction-related issues promptly with design staff.
- Collaborate with other Group Leads to assess staffing needs and assist in the recruitment process.
- Identify training requirements for team members and facilitate necessary training sessions.
- Conduct team meetings to communicate objectives and updates.
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure adherence to safe work practices.
- Authorize time sheets and manage vacation and overtime requests.
- Work with senior management to enhance project execution and operational processes.
- Foster strong relationships with clients through effective communication.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers to enhance their knowledge in P&C substation design.
- Review and validate the work of team members for accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Utilize engineering principles effectively to meet project requirements.
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred, with equivalent experience considered.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in P&C substation design for voltages ranging from 69kV to 500kV is essential.
- Experience in generation plant switchyard protection and control design is advantageous.
