The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in the patient care team by supporting physicians and other clinicians in delivering high-quality healthcare to ambulatory patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist physicians and other clinicians with clinical duties, including taking medical histories and assisting with physical examinations.
- Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, and other clinicians.
- Measure patients' vital signs.
- Prepare and administer vaccines/medications.
- Document patient information into the electronic health record.
- Collect specimens for testing.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Graduate of a medical assistant program or at least two years of verifiable medical assistant experience within the last five years.
- Good communication skills and experience using a keyboard and computers.
- Familiarity with equipment used in ambulatory care.
- Current AHA CPR certification.
- Ability to travel locally to multiple sites as needed.
- Ability to work in stressful conditions and difficult situations.
- Resilient and flexible in a changing environment.
- Ability to cooperate and work with others.
- Ability to make sound and timely decisions and work rotating shifts any day of the week.
- Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients as needed.
The Medical Assistant will work in a fast-paced medical practice, Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, with occasional late shifts until 7 pm. The ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance is required, with patient handling equipment available for heavier lifts or patient assistance.
