About the Role:

As a key member of our team, you will oversee the daily operations of our dining and nutrition services, ensuring that our patients receive exceptional care and our retail dining services meet the highest standards. Your leadership skills will be put to the test as you supervise a team of dedicated professionals, monitor production, and consult with our leadership team to address any service issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and monitor daily dining service production and patient delivery service, consulting with leadership on service issues and keeping them informed of related activities, needs, and problems.
  • Schedule employees, monitor and adjust staffing levels, and secure contingent labor as necessary to meet quality control and customer requirements.
  • Lead and provide technical assistance for employees to ensure service and quality standards are met, training, coaching, evaluating, and reviewing, disciplining, encouraging professional growth and development, and participating in department in-services.
  • Evaluate and approve employee requests for PTO, ensure all required inoculations are completed, and make recommendations regarding employment decisions to senior management as needed.
  • Assist management with annual budget preparation, work to continually trim operational costs, prepare operations reports, and other associated paperwork as required.
  • Establish production goals, objectives, and quality control standards to better serve the customer and comply with all accreditation requirements, monitor work flow and time schedules to meet production goals as assigned.
  • Ensure understanding of and compliance with Carilion policies and procedures, all regulatory guidelines as prescribed by various agencies, including JCAHO, OSHA, etc., and compliance with contracts and service line customer service agreements.
  • Provide conflict resolution with internal and external customers as necessary, attend required meetings and in-services, and participate on committees as requested, maintaining professional growth and development.
Requirements:

Education: High School Degree required

Experience: 3 years of experience in high volume food production system required, 2 years of those 3 years are related to a lead or supervisory role, prior experience in healthcare industry preferred.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Certified Dietary Manager preferred, SERV-Safe Certification or equivalent certification from the Virginia Health Department is required, or ability to obtain certification within year one in this position.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must have good public relations skills with customers, employees, and other key stakeholders, including senior leadership, must be capable of communicating verbal and written orders, directions, supervisory guidance, and technical assistance as needed to a diverse workforce, general interest in the development of subordinates to meet institution and patient care needs.
