Job Title: PAINTER MASTER
Division: Nacelle and Thrust Reversers
Shift: First Shift

Job Summary:
The Painter Master is responsible for applying advanced technical skills and comprehensive knowledge of industry standards and regulations to ensure the quality of paint applications on original equipment manufactured parts, components, and complete subsystems for aircraft operations. This role encompasses various detailed tasks necessary for specialization in the painting field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute paint applications on OEM parts, components, and subsystems for aircraft, utilizing a diverse range of complex products and processes to apply primer, topcoat paint, and other spray-applied coatings in accordance with established standards.
  • Interpret specifications and documentation to accurately define the scope of work.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning grease and dirt, removing rust using appropriate methods, and applying masking tape to protect areas from coating.
  • Calculate mix ratios for paint materials, select and combine coating liquids to achieve desired colors, and operate spray equipment effectively.
  • Ensure the use of suitable personal protective equipment and verify the proper functioning of respirators.
  • Apply coatings using spray techniques and brushes for areas that are difficult to reach, and maintain cleanliness of spraying equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as required, which may include tasks in different job classifications and departments.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: No formal education required; experience and training may substitute for educational requirements.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years in aircraft painting.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficient in using necessary equipment for painting tasks.
  • Ability to train other stakeholders in the proper application and quality standards of primer and topcoats.
  • Certification and training in respirator use, including fit testing.
  • Completion of pulmonary function tests and Jaeger color perception tests.

Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of working more than eight hours per day and five days per week as needed. Candidates must also be able to navigate stairs as required.

Work Environment:
The role involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and various chemicals, with noise levels ranging from moderate to loud.

Supervision:
  • Work independently while setting priorities and objectives.
  • Adapt techniques and tools as necessary with management approval.
