Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Assistant to join our team at the Coast Guard Community Services Command. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of our facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and laundry facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, corridors, stairways, facilities, and other assigned areas
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors using commercial cleaning equipment
  • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and appliances
  • Empty wastebaskets and replace liners
  • Polish doorknobs, light fixtures, and other metal fixtures
  • Wash walls, windows, and blinds
  • Make beds and change linens
  • Collect and transport soiled linens and deliver clean linens
  • Update room status, occupancy, and checkouts
  • Clean and disinfect lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls
  • Clean mirrors, sinks, and water fountains
  • Dust ledges, woodwork, and furniture
  • Replace deodorizers, toilet tissues, hand towels, soap, and other complimentary sundry items
  • Report any maintenance issues or concerns to the supervisor
Requirements
  • No previous experience or training is required
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
  • Must be able to use hand or lightweight powered cleaning tools or equipment
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to continuously stand, stoop, and reach for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work an irregular tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferably in the hospitality industry
