Housekeeping Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodial Worker/Housekeeping Aid to join our team at the Coast Guard Exchange. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of our guest rooms, public areas, and laundry facilities.

• Clean and sanitize guest rooms, corridors, stairways, facilities, and other assigned areas
• Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors using brooms, mops, commercial vacuum cleaners, and floor scrubbers and buffers
• Dust, wax, and polish furniture
• Clean and sanitize guest room appliances, cooking utensils, and dishes
• Empty wastebaskets
• Polish doorknobs and other metal fixtures
• Wash walls, windows, and blinds
• Make beds and change linen
• Collect soiled linen and place it at a pickup point
• Receive clean linen and deliver it where directed
• Update room status, occupancy, and checkouts
• Clean, disinfect, and deodorize lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls
• Clean mirrors, sinks, and water fountains
• Dust ledges, woodwork, and furniture
• Replace deodorizers, toilet tissues, hand towels, soap, and other complimentary sundry items
• Report any broken windows, water leaks, clogged drains, or other conditions requiring maintenance
• Keep stock of cleaning materials and equipment needed to do the work
• Advise supervisor when more materials are needed or when equipment needs repair or replacement

• No previous experience or training is required
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
• Must be able to use hand or lightweight powered cleaning tools or equipment
• Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds
• Must be able to continuously stand, stoop, and reach for long periods of time
• Must be able to work an irregular tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays

• Previous housekeeping experience preferably in the hospitality industry
