This full-time position is based in Harrisburg and requires occasional on-call weekends and holidays. You will work Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm, with the flexibility to adjust your schedule as needed.
Job Summary:The Clinical Engineering Generalist I will perform repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance on patient-related medical devices used throughout UPMC, hospital affiliates, and institutions contracting for services with BioTronics Inc. You will work under direct supervision and select from established procedures to complete assigned tasks.
Responsibilities:- Travel between UPMC sites, hospital affiliates, and institutions for services with BioTronics Inc. as needed
- Participate in continuing education and professional development
- Routinely perform preventive maintenance, inspection, and repair of low-priority medical equipment
- Understand and implement specific regulatory requirements
- Provide consultation to administration, nursing, and medical staff regarding operational, training, application, and technological advancements of medical instrumentation
- Participate in on-call rotation as indicated by the director
- Maintain records of all work activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System and Kronos
- Understand and operate all standard test equipment
- Associate's degree in Biomedical/Electrical/Computer/IT Information Technology, BMET Apprenticeship Certification, or Journeyman papers (if applicable)
- Equivalent military experience and/or equivalent hospital or manufacturers service experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- 0-2 years of hospital or manufacturers service experience and/or demonstrates equivalent proficiencies
- General knowledge of electronics, digital circuitry operations, and Information Technology, or surgical instrumentation (as applicable)
- General knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, physics, chemistry, optics, pneumatics, hydraulics, hospital structure, and regulatory requirements (as applicable)
- General Computer skills as required to operate a Computerized Maintenance Management System
