About the Role

Precision Concrete Construction is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for investigating problems with diesel engines and making repairs accordingly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use manual and computerized diagnostic methods to identify potential problems in diesel engines
  • Explain mechanical problems and possible solutions to clients
  • Plan work and testing procedures using charts, experience, and other organizational methods
  • Test parts and systems to ensure they work correctly
  • Ensure all critical parts are checked and tested
  • Perform basic automotive care, including changing oil and rotating tires
  • Repair or replace worn, old, or defective parts of a diesel engine
  • Repair or modify a diesel engine to a client's specifications, if possible
  • Assess diesel engines and/or machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues
  • Liaise with clients to determine their automotive requirements and communicate vehicular defects or problems
  • Provide routine inspections of diesel engines and inform clients of any issues
  • Prepare quotes and work estimates as requested
  • Keep an accurate log of all work performed
  • Maintain and clean garage equipment and tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition at all times
  • Adhere to company work safety policies
  • Consult the customer and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required
  • Prepare work plans after fully scoping out the issues
  • Run diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
  • Inspect vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering, and exhausts
  • Repair or replace vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated parts
  • Conduct field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
  • Test drive repaired vehicles to gauge their performance
  • Complete oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks
  • Maintain records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License (required)
  • At least 18 years old (required)
  • Pass physical and drug test (required)
  • 1 year of experience (preferred)
Working Conditions

This role requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, and a normal range of hearing and vision. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires working outdoors with light to moderate physical exertion.
