Senior Gift Assurance Officer in the Office of Development

Job Summary:

UTHealth Houston is seeking a Senior Gift Assurance Officer to join our Office of Development team. As a key member of our fundraising operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring that gifts, both endowed and non-endowed, are used according to the contributors' wishes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and edit contributor gift instruments, including endowment agreements
  • Develop and implement a training program for faculty and staff to ensure they understand their responsibilities in following the rules and regulations applicable to gift funds
  • Communicate gift restrictions to account signatories and others responsible for spending gift funds
  • Monitor adherence to gift restrictions and bring concerns to the attention of executive management
  • Review and report irregularities in gift fund expenditures
  • Coordinate with the Post-Award Finance team to review expenditures against endowments
  • Ensure accurate and timely investment of endowment gift funds
  • Work with gift administration staff to ensure accurate recordkeeping of gifts
  • Respond to inquiries from contributors, faculty, and staff
  • Mediate endowment compliance issues
  • Develop and implement controls to minimize risks in the use of gift funds

Requirements:

  • Three years of related experience, preferably in compliance and/or quality assurance, and preferably in a higher education fundraising environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Skills with relational databases
