Job Overview

The Scalehouse Clerk plays a vital role in the success of REI Enterprises, LLC by ensuring the efficient handling of manure sales during the fertilizer season. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and process monthly manure samples to ensure quality control.
  • Verify the presence of a signed contract before shipping product to customers.
  • Accurately input scale tickets for manure sales into the Agris system and ensure all entries are correct.
  • Apply scale tickets to the correct field and prevent over-shipping.
  • Run Agris reports to confirm all scale tickets are accounted for and applied to the correct contract.
  • Maintain a well-organized filing system for tickets, contracts, and field information in the scale house.
  • Communicate with and direct drivers to the correct fields and provide necessary documentation.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, track ready fields, and coordinate with operations for questions.
  • Conduct weekly calls with local drivers to determine their hauling schedule for the upcoming week and communicate with the Business Operations Manager if trucking capacity is low.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and orderly scale house environment.
  • Coordinate with cleanout crews to provide direction on site and barn assignments.
  • Obtain and maintain a Commercial Manure License annually.

  • Understand and follow all safety protocols.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and read maps to provide accurate directions to drivers.
  • Basic math skills and proficiency in English.
  • Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
