Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Weigh Station Administrator is responsible for managing all scale ticket data related to manure transactions during the fertilizer season. This role involves guiding truck drivers to the appropriate fields and ensuring that the correct quantities of product are dispatched. The work schedule may include weekends and will be influenced by weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect monthly manure samples for quality assurance.
  • Ensure that a signed agreement is secured prior to the shipment of products.
  • Input scale tickets for manure transactions into the Agris system, verifying the accuracy of entries.
  • Assign scale tickets to the appropriate fields and monitor to prevent over-shipping.
  • Generate Agris reports to confirm that all scale tickets are properly accounted for and linked to the correct contracts.
  • Maintain an orderly filing system within the scale house for tickets, contracts, and field data.
  • Communicate with and direct drivers regarding material hauling locations.
  • Provide truck drivers with copies of scale tickets, field maps, and necessary directions.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, track fields ready for hauling, and liaise with operations for any questions.
  • Contact local drivers weekly to confirm hauling schedules and inform the Business Operations Manager if there is a shortage of trucks.
  • Perform cleaning duties to keep the scale house organized and presentable.
  • Coordinate with cleanout teams to provide guidance on their work sites.
  • Obtain and renew a Commercial Manure License annually.

  • Ability to interpret maps and provide clear directions to truck drivers.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency.
  • Competent in computer usage, including email and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a weigh station environment.

Equipment Utilized:

Office tools including fax machines, copiers, computers, printers, telephones, handheld radios, and calculators.
