Job Summary:

The Scalehouse Clerk plays a crucial role in the fertilizer sales process, ensuring accurate and efficient handling of scale tickets, directing truckers to the correct fields, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collects and processes monthly manure samples to ensure quality control.
  • Ensures that all sales transactions are properly documented and recorded in the Agris system.
  • Inputs scale tickets into Agris, verifying accuracy and completeness.
  • Applies scale tickets to the correct fields, ensuring that shipments are properly allocated and accounted for.
  • Runs regular reports to ensure that all scale tickets are accurately recorded and applied to the correct contracts.
  • Maintains a well-organized filing system for scale tickets, contracts, and other relevant documents.
  • Communicates with drivers to provide directions and ensure timely shipments.
  • Provides drivers with necessary documentation, including scale tickets and maps.
  • Responds to customer inquiries, tracks field readiness, and coordinates with operations to address any questions or concerns.
  • Conducts weekly calls with drivers to confirm hauling schedules and coordinates with the Business Operations Manager to ensure adequate trucking resources.
  • Performs routine housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized scalehouse environment.
  • Coordinates with cleanout crews to provide direction on site and barn assignments.
  • Obtains and maintains a Commercial Manure License annually.

  • Excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to contribute ideas and suggestions to improve team performance and company operations.
  • Reliability and accountability in completing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Basic math skills and proficiency in English.
  • Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a scalehouse environment.
