Job Overview

The Records Retention Clerk position is a new and essential role in the City of New York's Adjudication Division, supporting daily operations and Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) who adjudicate parking summonses.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure records organization, maintenance, retrieval, inventory, retention, and destruction comply with the Agency's record retention policy at the warehouse.
  • Prepare and label boxes containing documents for archiving, including bar coding and setting up completed boxes for Facilities Management pick-up.
  • Review appeals claims against DOF records, verify information, and assist the public with hearing determinations and payment amounts.
  • Prepare files for the appeals panel to adjudicate for respondents choosing mail-based appeals.
  • Assist with reviewing and distributing incoming mail to staff for processing.
Requirements

A four-year high school diploma or equivalent along with one year of satisfactory clerical experience are required. Keyboard familiarity with typing speed of at least 100 key strokes per minute (20 words) is also necessary.
