About the Role

gpac is working with a client that is offering a fantastic opportunity in the meat packing industry. They are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager for their facility, with a salary range of $100k-$115k. The current Maintenance Manager, who has been with the company for over 25 years, is retiring and will provide training to ensure a smooth transition.

The facility employs about 35 people on the floor at a time, many of whom have been with the company for over a decade, reflecting the positive culture and work environment. During the summer, work hours are from 4/5AM to 2:30 PM, and in the winter, from 4/5 AM to about 11:30 AM. These hours allow you to avoid traffic and enjoy your afternoons with family and friends. Additionally, the company offers an incredible 401(k) match of 12%, which is almost unheard of.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Operations: Develop and implement new or improved product and processes to ensure optimal facility performance.
  • Establish Project Requirements: Define project requirements for external equipment and facility contractors to ensure seamless execution.
  • Define Preventive Maintenance Program: Establish the operating parameters of the Preventive Maintenance program to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain Inventory: Maintain an inventory of critical equipment parts to ensure operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Purchasing Function: Act as the purchasing function for equipment and facility maintenance to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.
  • IT Systems: Act as the point person for computer and Information Technology systems to ensure seamless integration and operation.
  • Work Procedures: Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and ensure optimal workflow.
  • Problem-Solving: Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems to ensure minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
  • Worker Motivation: Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew and motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Supervision: Supervise maintenance personnel to ensure optimal performance and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain time and production records to ensure accurate tracking and analysis of facility performance.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5 years as a Maintenance Manager in a food environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with meat is a plus (not a necessity).
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of hydraulics, roll stock, burger machines, conveyors, belts, spray tunnels is a plus.
  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to interface well with all employees of the Company and to represent the Company in a highly professional manner. Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Must be multi-task oriented.
