Advocate Health is seeking a skilled Emergency Services Technician to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support services.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in Patient Care: Collaborate with physicians and registered nurses to provide technical care to patients, including phlebotomy, IV starts, patient transportation, and vital sign monitoring.
- Document Patient Information: Accurately document patient information, procedures, and observations, and promptly communicate with registered nurses and other healthcare team members.
- Process Patient Charges: Process daily patient charges and related procedures through our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Facilitate Communication: Collaborate with physicians to support communication required for patient care, and coordinate and facilitate all forms of communication, including phone, verbal, and electronic.
- Maintain a Safe Environment: Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to department safety policies and standard precautions.
- Equipment Maintenance: Monitor equipment and troubleshoot minor problems, and arrange for repair of major malfunctions.
- Patient Positioning and Transport: Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting, pushing, and pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Licensure and Certification: Possess a Nurse Aide certification in good standing, or an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic license issued by the state of Wisconsin, or an EMT Basic Intravenous license issued by the state of Wisconsin, or an EMT Intermediate license issued by the state of Wisconsin, or an EMT Paramedic license issued by the state in which you practice, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Education: High School Graduate.
- Experience: No experience required.
- Skills and Abilities: Possess basic computer skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and their families.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shifts.
- Lifting and Carrying: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
- Pushing and Pulling: Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
- Exposure to Hazards: Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and blood and body fluids hazards on a continuous basis.
