About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Services Technician to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and registered nurses in providing technical care to patients, including phlebotomy, IV starts, and wound care.
  • Document patient information and procedures, and communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
  • Process patient charges and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with physicians to support patient care and coordinate communications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to department safety policies and standard precautions.
  • Monitor equipment and troubleshoot minor issues, arranging repairs as needed.
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Nurse Aide in good standing, or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic license issued by the state of Wisconsin, or other relevant certifications.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Graduate, with no experience required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Basic computer skills and ability to work with Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities, with a high level of attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.

Working Conditions:

  • Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and blood and body fluids hazards on a continuous basis.
  • Will be required to wear gloves, goggles, and gowns on an as-needed basis.
