Nursing Attendant-Centralized Nursing Service-Evening Shift Position

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Attendant to join our Centralized Nursing Service team in an evening shift role. As a Nursing Attendant, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients, ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining patient safety.
- Conduct patient rounds to ensure toileting, positioning, comfort, safety, and personal needs are met.
- Prepare patients for meals, including setting up utensils and food items, and feeding patients as needed.
- Perform basic hygiene tasks, such as bathing, AM/PM care, mouth care, denture care, hair care, nail care, and foot care.
- Assemble oxygen and suction set-ups as required.
- Collect specimens as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Inform the Registered Nurse of any audible clinical alarms, such as IV pumps, feeding pumps, ventilators, and bedside monitors.
- Assist with moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients.
- Change linens in accordance with policy and as necessary.
- Take and electronically record blood pressure, temperature, pulse, pulse oximetry, and respiration per care level standard and as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Report any abnormalities to the Registered Nurse.
- Perform post-mortem care.
- Perform safety observations for patients on continuous observation or in restraints, per policy and as directed.
- Respond to and meet patient/family needs and customer concerns as soon as possible with compassion and understanding.
- Maintain competence through in-service and educational programs.
- Attend staff meetings and review departmental standards.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of Certified Nursing Attendant program or minimum 6 months relevant experience.
- BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) is required upon entry to the position.
- Working knowledge of English is evident in verbal, reading, and writing abilities; other language an asset.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
