Nurse Practitioner Specialty

Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with physicians to address mental health issues and is responsible for delivering psychiatric healthcare to patients. This role involves working with the healthcare team to improve care delivery based on individual patient requirements, utilizing social and behavioral health protocols as guidance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prescribe medications for both acute and chronic mental health conditions, as well as therapies such as physical and occupational therapy, in accordance with the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
  • Provide counseling and education to patients and their families regarding health behaviors, self-care skills, and treatment alternatives, while coordinating with the inter-professional team on comprehensive care plans.
  • Engage with community referral sources to gather pertinent information about patients and communicate healthcare needs to other providers during discharge processes.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives and performance improvement projects as necessary, and assist in training and mentoring staff to enhance care quality.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership to create and deliver ongoing educational programs, ensuring that training content meets professional standards.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Two years of professional nursing experience.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Advanced Practice Registered Nursing licensure in Georgia.
  • Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner approved by the Georgia Nursing Board.
  • Eligibility for prescriptive authority in Georgia.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to formulate diagnoses based on examinations and test results.
  • Capability to identify deviations from norms and make appropriate referrals.
  • Proficient in completing nursing assessments and developing nursing care plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

Work Environment:
This position is primarily based within a healthcare setting, adhering to guidelines set forth by relevant health authorities. All candidates must pass a background check prior to employment.
