Job Title: Respiratory Care Practitioner

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team at Health Advocates Network, Inc.

Job Summary:

The Respiratory Care Practitioner will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients, including planning and administering medically prescribed respiratory therapy, conducting pulmonary function tests, and assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results.

Responsibilities:
  • Restore patient's pulmonary function, alleviate pain, and support life by planning and administering medically prescribed respiratory therapy.
  • Meet patient's goals and needs and provide quality care by conducting pulmonary function tests, assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results, and determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription.
  • Help patients accomplish treatment plans and support life by administering inhalants, operating mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments by performing bronchopulmonary drainage, assisting with breathing exercises, and monitoring physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.
  • Direct treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants.
  • Evaluate effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress and recommending adjustments and modifications.
  • Complete discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare workers; contributing to patient care conferences.
  • Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
  • Recommend and/or provide assistive equipment and outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Develop respiratory therapy staff by providing information and developing and conducting in-service training programs.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Ability to build rapport with patients.
  • Compassionate and caring demeanor.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • A valid and current CPR card (American Heart Association).
  • Must have up to date credentials in the state of CA.
