Respiratory Care Practitioner Job Opportunity

Health Advocates Network, Inc. is seeking a skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team at a facility in California.

Job Details:
  • Monday and Friday shifts
  • 6+ months assignment
Responsibilities:

As a Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will be responsible for restoring patients' pulmonary function, alleviating pain, and supporting life by planning and administering medically prescribed respiratory therapy. Your duties will include:

  • Conducting pulmonary function tests and assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results
  • Determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription
  • Administering inhalants, operating mechanical ventilators, and therapeutic gas administration apparatus
  • Monitoring physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes
  • Directing treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants
  • Evaluating the effects of respiratory therapy treatment plans and recommending adjustments and modifications
  • Completing discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare workers
  • Assuring continuation of therapeutic plans following discharge by designing home exercise programs and instructing patients, families, and caregivers
  • Recommending and/or providing assistive equipment and outpatient or home health follow-up programs
  • Documenting patient care services by charting in patient and department records
  • Maintaining patient confidence and protecting hospital operations by keeping information confidential
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Protecting patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
  • Developing respiratory therapy staff by providing information and developing and conducting in-service training programs
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Ability to build rapport with patients
  • Compassionate and caring demeanor
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • A valid and current CPR card (American Heart Association)
  • Must have up to date credentials in the state of CA
