Job Summary

Maintain optimal stock levels and quality of produce and floral products to meet company standards. Collaborate with produce personnel to drive department sales, profits, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with upper management to train and develop team members, schedule, plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Support upper management in reviewing historical data on sales, ads, and promotions. Co-manage inventory using item management processes to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels. May review profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data with department manager.
  • Indirectly responsible for maintaining and improving sales performance, financial results, public relations, product quality, and work standards.
  • Inspect products for quality control and food safety standards; adhere to all governmental product origin labeling.
  • Promote product sales through suggestive selling initiatives and appealing product displays.
  • Cut and trim products using sharp knives; prepare and display products to ensure high-quality presentation and appearance.
  • Ensure maintenance of stock conditions on produce and floral display racks, tables, and shelves.
  • Check inventory on trucks, unload products, and ensure accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and associated paperwork.
  • Provide friendly and customer service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to customer complaints.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to company safety procedures.
Requirements
  • Intermediate knowledge of produce department operations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of in-store ordering machine and inventory management processes.
  • Intermediate knowledge of scheduling software systems.
  • Ability to operate a manual or electric pallet jack.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment.
  • Ability to handle objects gently to avoid damage to items, people, vehicles, and property.
  • Ability to use an alphanumeric keyboard.
  • Ability to use precision and non-precision hand tools.
  • Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as knives, box cutters, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, and partners in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods, and processes.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • High school Diploma or GED and one or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • Food Handler certification required.
  • Manager Food Safety certification required.
