Job Summary

Under the direction of senior staff members, the System Operator I will be responsible for controlling and operating TNMP's transmission resources (voltage levels 60 kV and above) in compliance with all existing regulatory and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Real-time monitoring of TNMP's transmission systems
  • Managing VAR flow and maintaining acceptable voltage levels
  • Coordinating and dispatching switching operations
  • Executing directives issued by the ERCOT Reliability Coordinator
  • Serving as TNMP's liaison and transmission control agent to the ERCOT Reliability Coordinator and other ERCOT market entities
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED with sixty semester hours of college coursework showing an aptitude for math and electrical theory
  • Four to six years of previous work experience demonstrating basic electrical utility knowledge
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts
  • Working knowledge of various database, spreadsheet, and word processing software
Working Conditions

The System Operator I will work in a control room environment and will be required to accept the mental and physical rigors of rotating shift work, constantly changing system conditions, and varying operating guidelines.
