Position Overview:
The ALTIUS division at Anduril is in search of a Software Systems Engineer. This team specializes in the development of aerial robotic systems, transforming conceptual designs into operational solutions.

We collaborate closely with specialized teams in Perception, Controls, Firmware, Hardware, and Manufacturing to tackle some of the most challenging issues our clients face.

We seek software engineers, roboticists, and developers skilled in front-end and mobile technologies who are passionate about building a robust robotics platform that can be monitored and controlled in real-time through various interfaces.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish a Systems Engineering vision for ALTIUS to guide requirements and verification methodologies.
  • Create documentation to support government Technical Assistance programs involving asset certifications.
  • Lead the decomposition of requirements in collaboration with Robotics teams.
  • Independently manage broad and ambiguous requirements from internal engineering, program offices, and external corporate partners to ensure successful outcomes across multiple programs.
  • Organize and conduct regular testing events that encompass various software and hardware levels, from complete software simulations to hardware-in-the-loop demonstrations.
  • Develop strategies to adhere to relevant industry standards such as DO 178C, MIL-STD-882 E, and NATO UAV.
  • Exhibit high ownership of all assigned tasks, becoming a reliable partner to Anduril's robotics engineers.
  • Translate product requirements into systems engineering specifications.
  • Collaborate directly with robotics engineers to derive software requirements from system specifications.
  • Facilitate and expedite cross-team projects that span multiple functional areas.
  • Identify and address systemic execution challenges that necessitate broader initiatives.
  • Work alongside product leads to define scope, staffing, and delivery of capabilities to meet company objectives.
  • Recognize, resolve, and escalate significant inter-team dependencies.
  • Engage closely with partner teams, including hardware, product, and testing operations as required.
  • Comprehend technical implementations at an architectural level and suggest alternatives when necessary; pose clarifying questions regarding priorities.

Core Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in safety-critical industries, particularly with standards for safety-critical software development, fault/hazard analysis, and requirements-driven software verification and validation.
  • Proven ability to apply engineering standards to engineering processes or requirements.
  • Experience in drafting testable system-level and software-level requirements.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools such as JAMA, Polarion, etc.
  • Experience in software design assessment and conducting code reviews for C++ applications.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, shifting priorities, and complex challenges.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • U.S. Person status is required due to access to export-controlled data.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of contemporary software development practices, including unit testing, integration testing, and release processes.
  • Experience in developing software programs from inception to delivery.
  • Proficiency in writing Bash and Python scripts for task automation in an embedded Linux environment.
  • Ability to operate effectively in organizations with minimal structure and direction.
  • Experience implementing potentially disruptive organizational process changes.
  • Expertise in creating communication strategies for diverse stakeholder levels.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to leverage data and metrics to support decisions.
  • Familiarity with tools like JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience in developing various model-based systems engineering artifacts.
  • Experience with systems engineering software such as Cameo MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or SparxEA.
