Code Enforcement Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Code Enforcement Officer to join our team at Nash County, NC. As a Code Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with state codes and local ordinances related to building construction and property maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct inspections of building construction and property to ensure compliance with state codes and local ordinances.
- Review site plans, blueprints, and specifications for code compliance and issue permits as necessary.
- Advise contractors and homeowners on code regulations and provide guidance on compliance.
- Enforce minimum housing code and perform damage assessments after emergencies.
- Recommend judicial actions and testify in court as necessary.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to explain complex information in a non-technical manner.
- Considerable knowledge of state codes and local ordinances related to building construction and property maintenance.
- Knowledge of building materials, techniques, and workmanship.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, County staff, and the public.
- Ability to enforce regulations tactfully and firmly.
- Inspector Certificates issued by the North Carolina Code Officials Qualification Board.
- Construction/trade licenses or certifications.
- Previous work experience in construction-related roles.
