The Marine Crane Specialist will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cranes and other designated machinery. This role includes various responsibilities such as participating in safety briefings, conducting Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and performing maintenance tasks, all while prioritizing safety in all operations.
Key Responsibilities- Operate cranes and related equipment with a focus on safety and productivity.
- Conduct JSAs and monthly safety drills during shifts.
- Maintain accurate records of operational time and activities.
- Ensure that cranes, barges, and auxiliary equipment are serviced according to the maintenance schedule.
- Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables.
- Engage in additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Contribute to safety and environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations and enhance company practices.
Applicants must possess:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience operating cranes in marine construction and dredging.
- Knowledge of equipment utilized in dredging operations.
- Understanding of maintenance requirements for operational equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
- Willingness to work at remote project sites for extended periods.
- Reliability and motivation in performing job duties.
- Capability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Effective communication skills with colleagues and supervisors.
- Competencies in stress management, teamwork, and results orientation.
The role requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. The individual must be able to wear and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary, including hard hats, safety glasses, life vests, and other protective gear.
Additionally, the Marine Crane Specialist must be capable of:
- Moving across varying heights and accessing different locations on the job site.
- Engaging in repetitive physical activities such as standing, bending, and climbing.
- Performing repetitive movements with arms, hands, and back.
- Lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs independently; for weights exceeding 30 lbs, mechanical assistance is required.
- Exerting peak force of up to 150 lbs when pushing or pulling.
- Climbing stairs or ladders of at least 6 ft in height.
- Working in confined spaces and at elevated heights.
- Adapting to various environmental conditions, including temperature changes and exposure to noise and vibration.
