Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Records Specialist to join our team at MRO. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our clients by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of medical records requests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate and submit weekly reports from our online tools and software as directed by management.
  • Attend meetings and conference calls as directed by management.
  • Receive and respond to incoming requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Validate requests and authorizations for release of medical information according to established procedures and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Complete release of information requests with complete accuracy and quality checks.
  • Maintain equipment in excellent operating condition and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Provide excellent customer service by being attentive, respectful, and professional at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and ensure that records and files are properly stored.
  • Work within scope of position and direction, and be available to take on additional tasks as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality, information security, and ethical behavior when handling medical records information.
Requirements
  • 1 year of experience in release of information, medical records, or a related field in a healthcare environment.
  • Proven customer service experience and/or training.
  • Ability to understand and become knowledgeable of Release of Information standards, policies, and procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Must possess the understanding of simple health care terminology.
  • Ability to use fax, copier, microfilm machine, and other required work tools.
  • Ability to learn new equipment and required processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing to travel to multiple sites based on the needs of the region.
  • Ability to work professionally, effectively, and efficiently in a team environment.
  • Must be able to multi-task effectively and possess strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Must maintain a current and valid driver's license and ensure personal automobile insurance.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Prior work experience in Release of Information in a physician's office or HIM Department is required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations is required.
  • Ability to effectively use computer software and technology as required by the client facility.
