Radiation Oncology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The successful candidate will have a competitive salary of approximately $90,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience.

Main Responsibilities:
- Provide radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist.
- Follow established safety protocols to minimize exposure to radiation.
- Verify treatment plans are accurate and consistent with prescriptions.
- Educate patients on potential side effects of radiation treatment and how to manage associated side effects.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care.
- Follow established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
- Prepare written documentation as required by the profession and department.
- Schedule patients for treatments; interface with physicists at initiation of treatment; consult with supportive care physicians, nurses, and social workers.
- Prepare rooms and equipment for patients; transfer immobilized patients from stretchers to treatment couches; position patients in prescribed anatomical positions for treatment.
- Perform simulations as prescribed by radiation oncologists.
- Fabricate individualized immobilization devices (molds, blocks, compensators, and other beam-modifying devices).
- Utilize imaging technologies for simulation, treatment planning, and treatment delivery as prescribed by radiation oncologists.
- Ensure medical equipment is regularly maintained and in excellent working order.
- Perform daily warm-up procedures prior to each patient treatment and maintain documentation of quality assurance activities.
- Check equipment for malfunctions/abnormal quality assurance readings and report any findings to appropriate personnel.
- Supervise or participate in training and education of students.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
