About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Before and After School Program Assistant Teacher to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. As a key member of our team, you will provide a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children to prepare for their school day and unwind from it.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and leading daily lesson plans to promote learning and development in school age children
  • Prepare materials and resources for daily activities, ensuring a high-quality experience for children
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, arrival, and departure times, as well as provide weekly lesson plans to parents
  • Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Collaborate with Site Supervisor to provide excellent customer service to parents and guardians
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, ensuring a positive and healthy space for children
Requirements
  • 6-12 months of experience in youth development or a related field
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability and desire to work with school age children
  • Certifications in Blood Borne Pathogen, CPR, First Aid, and AED-Oxygen required within the first 60 days of employment
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT) required
