Job DescriptionJob Title: Before and After School Program Lead Teacher

Job Summary:
The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a qualified Before and After School Program Lead Teacher to provide a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children to prepare for their school day and unwind from it. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing classroom activities, as well as maintaining a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and lead daily lesson plans that promote learning and development in a fun and engaging way
  • Organize and participate in games and activities that promote socialization and teamwork
  • Provide weekly lesson plans to parents and maintain open communication
  • Supervise children at all times and maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss progress and address any concerns
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and participation

Requirements:
  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent in a youth development related field
  • At least six months of experience working with school-age children
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions:
The Before and After School Program Lead Teacher will work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse group of children and staff. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to maintain a positive and inclusive atmosphere in the classroom. The position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and to stand for long periods of time.

Compensation:
The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids offers a competitive salary range of $16.43 - $20.54 per hour, with opportunities for advancement and professional growth. The position also offers a $2/hour shift premium for staff who work both before school program hours and after school program hours in the same day.
