We are currently seeking a Central Office Cable Technician for a contract role. This position involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications cable systems within central office environments. The ideal candidate will be skilled in pulling, splicing, terminating, and testing various types of cables to facilitate connections between switching equipment and critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute cable pathways based on engineering specifications.
  • Install cables through raceways, racks, and conduits.
  • Organize and manage cable bundles and cross-connects.
  • Perform splicing of fiber optic, copper, and coaxial cables using industry-standard techniques.
  • Terminate cable ends with appropriate connectors and link them to equipment.
  • Conduct tests on cable runs to ensure continuity and identify signal loss or interference.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify any cable faults or performance issues.
  • Document all cable installations, splices, and terminations accurately.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized workspace within the central office.
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a central office setting is essential.
  • Ability to work during designated maintenance hours.
  • Familiarity with live equipment and wiring systems.
  • Capability to manage cable installations across multiple floors.
  • Proficient in wire wrapping and handling legacy equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills to prevent cable crossovers.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary within the Northeast region.
  • Availability for night shifts, including weekends.
