Oncology Nurse Specialist

## Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the Medical Oncology Unit at Sentara CarePlex Hospital. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse population of patients and their families, providing exceptional care and support throughout their treatment journey.
## Key Responsibilities
* Assess and admit patients, conducting thorough evaluations to identify their unique needs and develop individualized care plans
* Administer medications and treatments, including chemotherapy and biotherapy, in accordance with established protocols and guidelines
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure seamless transitions between departments
* Provide education and support to patients and their families, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices
## Qualifications
* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN or MSN preferred)
* Current RN licensure in the state of Virginia
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
* ACLS and PALS certifications within 1 year of hire
* ONS/ONCC or Sentara-approved course in chemotherapy and biotherapy within 6 months of hire
