Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing exceptional care to patients with various types of cancer. As an RN on our Medical Oncology Unit, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care, including chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, pre- and post-surgical care, and hospice and palliative care.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and admit patients, conducting thorough evaluations to identify their unique needs
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care
  • Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy treatments, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines
  • Provide pre- and post-surgical care, ensuring patients receive optimal support throughout their treatment journey
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate care, including referrals to specialists and other healthcare services
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure informed decision-making and optimal care
Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN or MSN preferred)
  • Current RN licensure in the state of practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card (ONS/ONCC or Sentara-approved course)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient-centered care
