Job Summary

American Compliance Technologies is seeking a highly skilled CDL Driver/Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Bartow, Florida. As a key member of our environmental services team, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, responding to environmental emergencies, and performing technical field work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to environmental emergencies and perform technical field work as required.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as Vac Trucks, Super Duster, forklifts, pallet jacks, lift gates, trucks, trailers, and other mechanical equipment as needed.
  • Perform clean-up and decontamination procedures as required.
  • Maintain inventory lists and complete various reports and field dailies as required.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials terminology, principles of spill responses, and proper storage, treatment, and disposal procedures.
  • Ability to work well with the public, clients, and other employees.
  • Field phone calls and communicate effectively with field supervisors.
  • Ability to perform limited chemical tests and work around a wide variety of chemicals.
  • Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to learn and adhere to proper safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in all weather and environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of bulky equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit, and stand.
  • Perform drum procession and sampling, tank cleaning, spill crew member duties, general construction, equipment decontamination, vehicle and equipment maintenance, and use of all levels of PPE.
  • Keep accurate field log books and perform manual labor, sweeping, shoveling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Uphold the ethics and values of the company.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate
  • One (1) year's experience in environmental, construction, or contracting type work, preferred.
  • CDL License-Class A or B with tanker & hazmat endorsements, within 90 days.
  • Excavator, Skid-steer, Bulldozer, Forklift, and other heavy equipment operation, preferred.
Additional Qualifications
  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training preferred, will be provided if needed.
  • Experience in serving public and private sector clients, including development of technical approaches, budgets, and schedules, monitoring project performance, client and regulatory interface, and delivery of technically superior work products.
  • Ability to travel, including some overnight.
  • Must possess a valid Florida CDL driver's license.
  • Air purifying respirator fit certification must be obtained and maintained no later than one (1) month after employment.
  • Pre-employment drug screen according to A-C-T's Drug Free Workplace policy.
  • Acceptable driving record in accordance with A-C-T's Insurance & Driving policy.
  • Signing the Non-disclosure and Non-solicitation Agreement.
  • Annual medical monitoring is required in this position.
  • Satisfactory background check.
