Forensic Security Specialist I

In this demanding and fulfilling position, each day presents new opportunities to make a significant impact.



Key Responsibilities:

Engage in crisis management and emergency response, conduct foot patrols of patient units, perform room and building inspections, and oversee patients during meal times and group activities.

Essential Functions: These functions are fundamental to all roles within this classification and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.

As a key member of the team, you will:

  • Monitor client behavior and promptly inform nursing and clinical staff of any changes.
  • Supervise visitor conduct and take proactive measures to de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies involving combative clients and assist in managing trespassers and locating missing clients.
  • Maintain order and security in compliance with established policies.
  • Ensure the safety of state property and the well-being of staff and visitors by controlling access through secure points.
  • Respond to internal emergency calls and relay critical information to appropriate authorities.
  • Utilize electronic communication systems to verify authorized access and manage sector access from the control center.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility, ensuring all safety devices are functional and secure.
  • Perform searches of clients, visitors, and the premises for contraband.
  • Provide general information and assistance to visitors as needed.
  • Prepare logs, statistical data, incident reports, and use of force documentation as required.

Job Requirements:

Applicants must demonstrate competence in the following areas:

  • Six months of experience in maintaining the security and safety of individuals and facilities.
  • Knowledge of security systems and surveillance technology.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or canceled).
