Overview: The Physical Therapist will be responsible for developing and executing individualized physical therapy programs tailored to meet the unique needs of students. This role involves direct interaction with students as well as collaboration with parents and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate children's physical therapy needs.
  • Design and implement physical therapy services within the student's educational plan, setting both long-term and short-term objectives.
  • Oversee the activities of physical therapy students and assistants.
  • Engage with parents to extend therapeutic activities from school to home.
  • Monitor and document student progress, noting any significant changes in response to therapy.
  • Adhere to professional standards and safety protocols while delivering therapy services.
  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation for Medicaid reimbursement.
  • Maintain accurate records of clinical notes and student attendance.
  • Participate in collaborative meetings with staff and other service providers.
  • Provide training to school staff on the proper use of physical therapy equipment.
  • Contribute to the School IEP and IFSP teams as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies, adhering to relevant laws and standards.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, including completion of a physical therapy program recognized by relevant accrediting bodies.
  • Current licensure as a physical therapist in the state.
  • Understanding of fundamental physical therapy principles and child development.
  • Familiarity with the application of physical therapy techniques for children with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of laws pertaining to the education of students with disabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
