About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Ochsner Health System. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized, direct patient care to assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.
  • Assist in the implementation of the delivery of health care services, ensuring a seamless and efficient patient experience.
  • Collaborate with fellow employees to provide the highest quality personalized patient care and maintain a positive work relationship with the healthcare team.
  • Document pertinent patient information in medical records, adhering to department guidelines and ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting patient privacy and communicating effectively with individuals of all age groups.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Ophthalmic Medical Technology preferred.
  • 2 years of experience or Associate's degree in Ophthalmic Assisting preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification through JCAHPO preferred.
