Job Title: Nursing Assistant

The University of Iowa Healthcare Department of Nursing is seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Assisting patients with personal hygiene, such as bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming, and oral care
  • Turning, positioning, and ambulating patients
  • Assisting patients with bedpans, urinals, and perineal cleansing
  • Taking temperature, pulse, and blood pressure
  • Entering daily patient record charting in the computer
  • Performing simple diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, such as dressing changes
  • Cleaning equipment, patient bedside area, and nursing unit
  • Setting up rooms for patient admission
  • Transporting patients by bed, cart, or wheelchair
  • Transporting equipment, specimens, and supplies
  • Stocking and supplying patient rooms and nursing unit
  • Performing basic CPR as required
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality
Requirements:
