Job Summary:

The Nursing Assistant will provide direct patient care and supportive services to the nursing unit and healthcare provider team under registered nurse supervision. This role requires a high level of compassion, empathy, and communication skills to ensure the best possible care for our patients.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care, including bathing, toileting, eating, dressing, and grooming
• Assist with transferring patients from bed to chair, chair to bed, and turning and repositioning patients while in bed
• Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdown to prevent decubitus ulcers
• Report accidents, incidents, injuries, and/or skin tears to the nurse supervisor/charge nurse
• Measure and record blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, temperature, and inform the RN/nurse supervisor/charge nurse if not within normal limits
• Perform blood glucose monitoring if required per department expectations
• Use computer and basic clerical skills to perform tasks such as answering phones/call lights, inputting orders into the computer, and supply ordering

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate (GED or HISET) or confirmation of three years of experience in a hospital/medical setting
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the appropriate state (TN or VA) required
• Ability to use computer and basic clerical skills

Work Requirements:

• Day shift
• No on-call requirements
• Rotating weekends
• No travel required
• Location: Johnson City Medical Center
