This role is essential for ensuring the accuracy of payment assessments based on Medicare regulations, coding standards, and billing practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reach out to the medical records departments of assigned providers, clarify the intent of the records request, and outline the methods for submitting records electronically, via fax, or through postal mail.
- Confirm the contact details for the medical provider.
- Dispatch a formal written request for medical records to the provider.
- Conduct follow-ups with the provider as necessary to guarantee timely submission of records.
- Manage incoming calls from providers inquiring about the status of medical record requests.
- Familiarity with various Medicare provider categories, including physicians, diagnostic labs, ambulance services, durable medical equipment suppliers, acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, skilled nursing homes, home health services, and hospice care.
- Exceptional active listening and articulate verbal communication abilities.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
