Spiritual Care Director

This role oversees the daily operations of the assigned department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality spiritual care services to patients and their families. The successful candidate will have a strong background in chaplaincy and supervisory experience, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate community clergy and lay communion ministers with local parishes, ensuring effective spiritual care services throughout the organization.
- Supervise, train, and develop department staff, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Ensure quality of pastoral care and patient satisfaction, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance services.
- Assist with research, education, and training to support cutting-edge patient care and chaplaincy services, staying up-to-date with industry best practices.
- Support long-term strategic business plans through department-specific business planning and special projects, driving growth and innovation.
- Monitor budget and provide management with reports and updates, ensuring fiscal responsibility and accountability.
- Provide daily direction to department personnel, directing all corresponding activities relating to department services.
- Offer opportunities for skill development and ongoing performance feedback to staff and volunteers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, introducing services or procedures, and communicating effectively.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the department and organization.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a Master's degree preferred.
- At least 3 years of healthcare experience related to chaplaincy and/or supervisory or management experience.
- Certification as a board-certified chaplain by NACC, NAJC, or APC, with faith group endorsement for chaplaincy and ordination or commissioning to function in ministry/spiritual care.
- Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to the role.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including a professional attitude and ability to work collaboratively with physicians, administration, nurses, and support staff.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to inspire others and manage challenging situations.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and delegation skills, with the ability to work a flexible schedule, including on-call, nights, and weekends.
