Position Summary:
The role of the Budget Management Specialist involves assisting in the formulation, preparation, and adjustment of the operating budget for Claratel Behavioral Health. This position is responsible for generating various reports, analyzing expenditure trends, and providing budgetary recommendations to management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the budget preparation process, including scheduling and conducting planning meetings with department heads.
  • Perform monthly budget reviews to compare actual expenditures against the approved budget, highlighting significant variances.
  • Analyze preliminary financial statements to identify discrepancies and prepare necessary accrual entries.
  • Facilitate invoicing for expense-based contracts and ensure accurate recording in revenue and accounts receivable.
  • Identify potential budgetary issues and collaborate with management to propose effective solutions.
  • Prepare various financial documents, including reports, projections, and operational summaries, within established deadlines.
  • Evaluate budget submissions and funding requests, making recommendations to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Generate monthly budget reports and collaborate with department leaders to refine departmental objectives.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and recommend policy changes to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Keep management informed of relevant developments that may affect departmental budgets.
  • Participate in research projects and assist with financial data preparation as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of the budget development process.
  • Familiarity with state contract and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data effectively.
  • Proficient in financial systems and accounting software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet applications for accounting purposes.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field is required.
  • Preferred: Minimum of 2 years of experience in fiscal analysis.
