Screw Compressor Technical Lead

Johnson Controls International is seeking a highly skilled Sr Screw Compressor Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance for projects related to screw compressors.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of screw compressor theories, concepts, and technical principles.
- Model compressor performance under various operating conditions using physics and mechanical models and test data.
- Design and develop new compressor designs, and modify existing ones to improve performance and reliability.
- Prepare and execute test programs to verify performance and reliability of mechanical and electrical sub-components of compressors.
- Analyze and troubleshoot mechanical sub-components and sub-systems based on test data.
- Coordinate compressor prototype builds, qualification of samples, and customer samples.
- Generate technical documentation and write technical documents for use within the company.
- Initiate test lab data reduction and design of experiments, work closely with test labs to execute plans.
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes and design to standard manufacturing processes.
- Provide comparative evaluation of potential future compressor designs.
- Define, plan, and promote complex projects into several routine smaller ones.
- Report on the status of projects.
- Provide clear technical direction to designers, drafters, and review complex 3D models.
- Initiate product improvement and cost reduction activities.
- Assist in return compressor evaluation and disposition of parts.
- Provide technical support to purchasing.
- Provide technical support for the plant relative to assembly and test process.
- Provide manufacturing support to other entities within the company.
- Contribute to the on-time completion of programs and report on the status of assigned projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related science or equivalent.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in screw and centrifugal compressor design and/or manufacturing, or related experience with other fixed displacement/centrifugal compressors.
- Proficiency in mechanical design and ability to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product.
- Experience with programming languages like Visual Basic, Python, etc.
- Experience with modeling tools FEA, CFD preferred.
- Experience in a design and product development environment.
- Strong understanding of acoustics and vibration.
- Basic understanding of fundamental business knowledge.
- Strong Personal Computing ability with capabilities in MS Office Suite, etc.
- Ability to work with others and interface regularly with other design engineers, manufacturing, service, and purchasing.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
