POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is situated within the Building Management Division of the General Services Department and reports to a direct supervisor. An eligibility list will be created for future openings, including those in other departments, in line with collective bargaining agreements. Candidates must possess the skills and knowledge necessary for operating, maintaining, inspecting, and adjusting various air handling and heating systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting, servicing, and maintaining hot water boilers, air conditioning, and ventilation systems.
  • Completing work orders, safety reports, inspection sheets, and other relevant documentation daily.
  • Maintaining building facilities and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Interacting with City personnel and the public to address inquiries regarding ongoing work.

VETERANS PREFERENCE:

Honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces who meet the qualifications for this position will receive preference. Verification of honorable discharge must be submitted prior to the closing of the vacancy announcement.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of air conditioning and heating system operations.
  • Proficiency in the safe use of electrical tools and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain heating and cooling systems effectively.
  • Capability to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain high-quality workmanship standards.
  • Competence in record-keeping and performing various maintenance tasks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety practices and established policies.
  • Possession of a valid State of Oklahoma Class IV Boiler Operator License and a valid Driver License.

NOTE: Selected individuals without a valid State of Oklahoma Class IV Boiler Operator License must obtain it within six months of hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Primarily indoors with occasional outdoor exposure.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and humidity levels.
  • Potential for physical injuries while operating machinery and equipment.
  • Occasional work at heights and exposure to loud noises.
  • Subject to emergency call-outs and local travel for repairs.

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Flexibility to perform maintenance tasks effectively.
  • Steadiness and dexterity for intricate repair work.
  • Good vision and hearing for operational tasks.
