Job Title: Detention Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Detention Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of Detention Officers in a detention facility environment. The successful candidate will have a minimum of one year of experience as a detention officer and two years of successful experience in field supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Detention Officers to ensure the safe and effective control of detainees in the facility.
  • Provide guidance and on-the-job training to improve Detention Officer skills.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of service regardless of shift or location.
  • Conduct daily quality assurance inspections of detention facilities, grounds, posts, equipment, uniforms, and knowledge of post orders.
  • Document findings of inspections and correct discrepancies on-the-spot as appropriate.
  • Assist detention officers to deal with incidents of disturbance or lack of cooperation from detainees.
  • Inspect every area of the facility where detainees are present, at least once per shift.
  • Assume duties of Captain in Captain's absence.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of experience as a detention officer.
  • Two years of successful experience in field supervision.
  • US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check.
  • Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance.
  • Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests.
  • Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain a state security guard D license from the state of Florida.
  • Ability to obtain a state armed guard G license from the state of Florida.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and familiar with ACA and DHS ICE National Detention Standards and regulations on the operation of detention and correctional facilities.
  • Membership in the American Correctional Association.
  • Bilingual.

Working Environment:

The incumbent's duties are performed in a detention facility environment, working with a wide variety of people from different cultures, backgrounds, and speaking various languages, while performing multiple functions.
