Provide exceptional customer service, aid in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies, enter new and refill prescriptions into the computer system, liaise with physician offices for refill requests, manage cash register transactions, receive patient prescriptions, verify stock against invoices, and help maintain an organized pharmacy environment.

ResponsibilitiesAs a Pharmacy Support Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Receiving prescriptions from patients and accurately capturing necessary information according to departmental policies.
- Assisting in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies, which includes counting, pouring, and labeling prescriptions.
- Verifying insurance details and resolving any issues to meet customer needs.
- Addressing third-party prescription inquiries, including prior authorizations and drug utilization reviews.
- Processing new and refill prescriptions in the computer system efficiently and accurately, including complex prescriptions such as compounds and injectables.
- Demonstrating proficiency in the pharmacy computer system and utilizing reporting tools effectively.
- Handling manual prescriptions and special orders efficiently.
- Responding to internal and external customer inquiries in a professional and service-oriented manner.
- Managing cash register transactions with accuracy.
- Performing administrative tasks as assigned, which may include scheduling and maintaining pharmacy software.
- Assisting the Pharmacist in identifying and resolving patient-specific medication-related issues.
- Providing training to new and existing staff on software, insurance plans, and customer service processes.
- Preparing drug therapy for patients in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Delivering medications and supplies to appropriate care areas.
- Maintaining a clean and well-stocked pharmacy environment daily.
- Assisting in inventory control and managing stock levels.
- Processing recalls and returns as necessary.
Required Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Required License/Certification/Registration: Active technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy.
Preferred Education: Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician program.
Preferred Experience: One to three years of experience in retail and/or pharmacy settings.
Preferred License/Certification/Registration: PTCB Certification.
