Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising construction contractor project activities and ensuring conformance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and Approve Contractor Work: Conduct regular site visits to inspect contractor work and ensure conformance with contract documents and quality standards.
  • Prepare Daily Inspection Reports: Document all project work activities and events in detailed daily inspection reports.
  • Perform Field Measurements and Assessments: Conduct field measurements and assessments to verify pay quantities and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Collaborate with Resident Engineer: Work closely with the Resident Engineer to resolve project work issues, correct substandard nonconforming work, and negotiate extra work items.
  • Analyze and Evaluate Constructability Issues: Identify and provide effective solutions to constructability issues that may impact project timelines or budgets.
  • Verify and Approve Contractor Submissions: Review and approve contractor-submitted materials, components, and methods to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Participate in Project Meetings: Attend project meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and follow up on action items to ensure project progress and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Contractors and Utility Companies: Work with contractor project managers and utility company representatives to avoid work conflicts and schedule delays.
  • Monitor Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Operations: Ensure compliance with project safety plans and safety for the traveling public during construction activities.
  • Monitor Contractor Compliance with Environmental Permits: Verify that contractors comply with environmental permits, AA, and EEO plans.
Requirements
  • Field Inspection Experience: Two (2) years of field inspection experience working on applicable civil construction projects.
  • Knowledge of Construction Plans and Specifications: Ability to read and understand complex construction plans and specifications.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as experience using AASHTOWare and COMPASS for construction management and document control.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACI Certification: Certification in concrete inspection and testing.
  • NETTCP Certification: Certification in highway maintenance and paving, soils and aggregate, and other relevant areas.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety and Health: Certification in construction safety and health.
Special Requirements
  • NICET TCI Level II Certification: Possession and retention of a valid NICET TCI Level II certification.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License: Possession and retention of a valid motor vehicle operator's license and auto insurance.
  • Reliable Transportation: Ability to provide reliable transportation to and from work sites.
