Illumination Technician for Gardens Aglow

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Light Installation Specialist. This role is perfect for those who enjoy creativity, outdoor work, and are passionate about promoting our goals of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA).
Compensation: $17.00 per hour with a sign-on bonus of $400.00.
Position ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Installing decorative lighting in trees, shrubs, pathways, and structures based on provided designs and training.
- Reporting progress and any issues to the Gardens Aglow Program Manager.
- Removing lights and assisting in the organization of storage post-event.
- Taking on various roles during the Gardens Aglow event, such as traffic management and admissions.
- Participating in Gardens-wide initiatives, including special events and Gardens Aglow assignments.
- Occasionally organizing and preparing lights according to the design plan.
- Setting up power cords ahead of the lighting crew as needed.
The light installation work will primarily occur on weekdays, with some weekend shifts required. Additional responsibilities may arise during the event evenings.
Physical RequirementsThis position demands a high level of physical activity, often working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Candidates should be prepared to lift and carry loads up to 50 lbs. Necessary equipment such as gloves and hand warmers will be provided.
QualificationsIdeal candidates will possess:
- The ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret schematic plans.
- A willingness to learn and apply various lighting techniques.
- Capability to handle and stabilize ladders up to 10 feet without assistance.
- Comfort in climbing and working from heights.
- Experience with adjustable work platforms.
- The ability to maintain a steady work pace throughout an eight-hour shift.
- Independence and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to completing tasks thoroughly.
- Experience with boom lifts is advantageous.
- A dedication to supporting the integration of IDEA principles within the organization.
