Are you skilled in various trades and passionate about maintaining a beautiful environment? The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the upkeep of facilities, vehicles, and equipment, ensuring a safe and pleasant experience for both guests and staff.

Position Details:

  • Full-time, hourly, non-exempt position.
  • Eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.
  • Standard work hours are 40 hours per week, with a schedule that varies based on the Gardens' operational hours.
  • Availability for emergency and weather-related on-call duties is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage the Preventive Maintenance Program for vehicles, shuttles, golf carts, and scooters.
  • Oversee and maintain all assigned building systems.
  • Address and complete maintenance service requests promptly.
  • Prepare equipment for daily operations.
  • Support the custodial team with cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Monitor and evaluate work performed by external contractors.
  • Adhere to budget constraints and maintain inventory for efficient operations.
  • Assist in setting up facilities for various events and meetings.
  • Secure buildings when not in use, ensuring all doors and windows are locked and reporting any security concerns.
  • Perform cleaning tasks, including snow and debris removal, using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with all guests, vendors, and colleagues, adhering to our Community Agreements.
  • Follow safety protocols and comply with all relevant guidelines.
  • Participate in organization-wide initiatives and special projects as directed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for short periods, stand for extended hours, and walk as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, reaching, and other physical activities are required.

Qualifications:

  • Formal training or three years of relevant experience in trades such as carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, or mechanical repair.
  • Familiarity with safety practices and tools used in maintenance work.
  • Ability to operate and maintain power equipment and hand tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to perform measurements and calculations related to maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to supporting the integration of IDEA principles within the organization.
